Brooks was born on October 9, 1917, in Washington, DC, to Isaac Matthew and Mary Blanche (Brooks) Woods. He grew up in Manhasset, NY, and graduated from Lehigh University in 1941. He was employed by Westinghouse Electric for 40 years, and served in the US Navy as a Senior Grade Lieutenant for 4 years during World War II.
He resided in Pearl River, NY, until retiring to East Orleans in 1981, where he lived for 31 years. He was a member of the Federated Church of Orleans, the Orleans Men's Coffee Club, the Orleans Yacht Club for 20 years and was very active in civic affairs.
Donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Brooks' name. A memorial service will be held at the Federated Church of Orleans, on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at 2:00 pm.
