

Thyra McClain Schrock of Eastham passed away peacefully on Feb. 6, 2014. Tye was born in Orbisonia, PA and attended Shippensburg College to become a teacher. After marrying her husband, James Leroy Schrock, who predeceased her, Tye briefly taught in the Teaneck, NJ, schools but then spent over thirty years as a kindergarten and first grade teacher in the Harrington Park, NJ schools.
Tye is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Kane of Redmond, WA, daughter Amanda Schrock of Waltham, MA, and her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Kathy (Beck) Schrock of Eastham. She also leaves behind her two grandchildren, Rockwell Schrock and Quin Schrock, and many relatives in Pennsylvania.
Retiring to Eastham in 1991, Tye had served as a member of the Board of the Friends of the Council of Aging and the Friends of the Eastham Library. She also volunteered for many years in the Eastham Elementary School library and was still an active volunteer at the Eastham Public Library and the Friends of the Council on Aging Thrift Shop.
Tye will be greatly missed by her family, former teaching colleagues, and her Cape Cod friends. Donations in her name can be made to the Eastham Public Library, 190 Samoset Road, Eastham, MA 02642
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 16, from 3pm-5pm at Younger Hall, Eastham Methodist Church, 3200 State Highway Route 6, Eastham, MA. Burial will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA and will be private.
