Ursula was an elementary school teacher for the Cheshire, Connecticut public school system. Ursula volunteered with the Lower Cape Outreach program for 20 years following her retirement from teaching. Ursula was an active athlete where snow skiing and tennis were among her favorite activities. Ursula was active with the Brewster Garden Club and local library. She was an avid gardener and superb cook. As a kind and patient person, her friends and family regard Ursula to be one of the finest people on this Earth.
Ursula was a loving wife to Donald A. Gainty who passed on September 11, 2004, she was nurturing mother to her two sons, Martin and Gordon, a source of joy to her 4 grandchildren, Nissa, Matthew, Krista and Gregory.
A visitation will be held at the Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Parkway, Orleans, MA 02653 on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home, or, contributions may be sent to the Cape Cod Alzheimer's Family Support Center, 2095 Main Street, Brewster, MA 02631. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Cape, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster, MA 02631 on January 18, 2020 beginning at noon. A private burial occurs Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Donald.
