Valerie Gunderson Osiecki passed away June 7th, 2014. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and resident of Boston and Cape Cod, Valerie was 59 years old, the daughter of the late Harold and Phyllis (Valentine) Gunderson, and is survived by her husband Ted, brother David (Amy), and many neices, nephew, family members who loved her dearly.
She held the important position as budget manager for WGBH in Boston and loved the theatre. She was a published poet and a prolific reader of a wide-range of literature. She was an actress in her youth and attempt to break into Broadway, working temp jobs and appearing on game shows to support her efforts. She was a proud alumnus of the Theatre Department at Indiana University. She was an avid Red Sox fan and Patriots fan; she was a world traveller; she questioned the universe and her place in it. Valerie was a true Renaissance woman equally at home in a theatre, a poetry class, a winery in France, a business office of a large non-profit organization, in her mother's garden watching the hummingbirds, or at a backyard bonfire pondering the stars and the moon. She understood budgets and economics yet wrote beautiful poetry.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ted and Valerie's favorite charities: The Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston (mspca.org) or HopeHealth Hospice in Cape Cod (hopehealthco.org). For online condolences, please visit www.nickersonfunerals.com
