William James Scheibel

William was raised in Shelton, CT and later moved to Seymour. In 1982 he settled in Cape Cod. He was employed as the Assistant Manager of Grand Union in Stratford, CT. After moving to the Cape he managed the A&P Supermarkets in Dennis, Harwich and Provincetown. William was greatly loved by all who worked for him and was well known for his kindness, compassion and understanding.

Every summer was grueling so he and his beloved wife would spend a well-earned, romantic vacation in the Caribbean every February. William loved tinkering with cars, working in the garden, fishing and hiking. He especially had a special love for and bond with all animals. William also enjoyed canoeing, weight-lifting and cutting wood on his 30 acres in Maine where he and his family enjoyed time at his log cabin.

Our favorite memories are of him telling fascinating stories. He even did so while in the hospital.

William leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Barbara Scheibel, his sons, William Scheibel, Jr. and wife Jean and Cyril and wife Monika. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, his beloved Christopher and Monika. William loved animals and also leaves behind his cats, Harry, Maine Boy and Izzy. Rest in peace my mighty warrior.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at The Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA 02653. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery in Yarmouth Port.
