Proverbs 31:28
Carol Aliff Wheaton, 84, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in Daytona Beach, Florida, after a brief illness. Her passing was unexpected and deeply heartbreaking for all who loved her.
Carol was born on May 18, 1941, in Oceana, West Virginia, and was raised in Fanrock, West Virginia. She later lived in Washington, D.C. and Virginia before moving to Florida in 1972, where she made her home and raised her family.
Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Ernest Wheaton Sr.; her parents, Ulbert and June Aliff; her sisters, Edna Thomas and Joann Aliff; her brothers, Charles Aliff, David Aliff, and Douglas Aliff; and her parents-in-law, Earnest and Helen Wheaton.
She is survived by her loving children, Melody (Artie) Rose and Ernie (Kelly) Wheaton Jr.; her cherished grandchildren, Billy (Nicole) Rose, Carol (Vernon) Harrison, Ernie Wheaton III, Lucas Wheaton, and Savannah Wheaton; and her adored great-grandchildren, William Rose, Sarah Rose, Emily Rose, Christian Rose, and Esther Harrison. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Patricia Blankenship and Shirley Aliff.
Carol was the rock of her family — selfless, deeply loving, and quietly hilarious when you least expected it. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all of her “adopted” children and grandchildren faithfully. She also dearly loved her siblings-in-law and was a beloved presence in the lives of her many nieces and nephews.
She lived out the fruits of the Spirit and was the kindest woman many ever had the privilege of knowing. She loved everyone who came through her door and was well known for her pecan pie and coleslaw, as well as her love of Chick-fil-A Sunjoys, shopping, plenty of laughter, and a good book.
Above all, Carol loved the Lord. She trusted Him with everything, and He was faithful. She was a devoted prayer warrior, known for her strong faith, discernment, and unwavering trust in God. Her prayers covered generations. She led Bible studies and women’s ministries, quietly pouring into others through prayer, wisdom, and example. Known for giving the best hugs, Carol had a way of making everyone feel safe and welcomed.
Carol treasured traveling with her late husband, but her favorite place to be was always home, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She delighted in celebrating holidays and birthdays, always making them meaningful and memorable. She was her family’s biggest cheerleader, encouraging her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to excel in whatever God placed before them — whether careers, hobbies, or military service. The Smoky Mountains held a special place in her heart and her family treasures the memories made there.
A Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, located at 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, Florida, on December 20, 2025, beginning at 10:00 am.
The family invites all who knew and loved Carol to join in celebrating a life lived with grace, faith and endless love.
“Her children arise and call her blessed.”
