

Clarice L. Johnson, 88, born May 11, 1923 in Baltimore, Maryland, passed gently in her sleep to be with the Lord on September 27, 2011 in Ormond Beach, Florida. She was born to Elsa (Otto) Stockton and Frederick Stockton. She was a first-generation American from a family of Irish, English and German decent.
Clarice was a loving mother, wife and friend. She loved nature and all of God’s creatures. She loved flowers and birds, and especially cardinals. She always had a well-tended garden of great beauty. Clarice was a devoted Catholic having been a parishioner at both St. Paul's Basilica in Daytona Beach and Prince of Peace Church in Ormond Beach. She graduated from Sister Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School. She was devoted to God (the Holy Trinity) and the Blessed Mother as well as her family and many friends. Throughout her life, she brought joy to every life she touched. She was beautiful, intelligent, and artistically talented and had a great sense of humor. She was a great cook. She was generous and kind-hearted. As a mother, she was loving and involved. She grew to be not only a mother, but a best friend to her daughter, Karen. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Karen Catley (Bob), her sister-in-laws, Marjorie Schmidt and Carol Johnson (Jim), niece Sue Lynn (Stockton) Shubert (Jack), nephew Timothy Stockton, lifelong friends Alice Nill and Kitty Angle, and many more friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
She was predeceased by her mother, Elsa, father, Frederick, sister, Mildred and brother, Bernard.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday October 8, 2011 at 1:00PM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church 600 South Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL. Interment will follow the service at Volusia Memorial Park 550 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, Fl. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.volusiamemorialfunerals.com.
