

Jesus Christ. He was born on December 15th, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania. He moved to
the Daytona Beach Area in 1962 where he attended Seabreeze High School graduating in 1965.
He was one of the founding members of Rima Ridge Baptist Church, which he started along with
his wife in 1980 in their home. He has continued to serve with joy there teaching Sunday
School, sharing the Word of God, singing in the choir and has been the Chairman of the Deacons
since 1986. He was an avid golfer and a diehard Gator fan! He was very acitve in the
community, holding various positions in several organizations including Fire Chief of Rima Ridge
Volunteer Fire Department 1978-1986, past President of the Sunrise Lions Club Daytona Beach,
Past President Life Underwriters Association, Chairman of the Republican Party of Volusia
County, delegate to the Republican National Convention 1996, Halifax Health Board of
Commissioners member for 8 years. Most recently Donald was a very proud employee of Halifax
Health. For him it was not just a job, it was his ministry. He loved every person he came into
contact with and it showed. Doctor, nurse, patient, visitor, CEO or employee, all were greeted
with the same generous spirit.
Donald is survived by the love of his life and wife of 45 years Alma, two daughters Natalie Dykes
and Charla Knight (Michael), four grandsons Justin, Jordan (Jennifer), Alex and Andrew, two
great granddaughters Stella and Scarlett, two brothers Jim Quinn (Ginny) South Daytona and
Bud Quinn (Beverly) Connellsville, PA, sister Billie Quinn of Long Island, New York. He also had
many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Halifax Health Hospice or Rima
Ridge Baptist Church. Visitation will be held on Friday September 29, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL. A memorial service will take place on Saturday September 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Rima Ridge Baptist Church, 11 Cone Rd, Ormond Beach.
