Dorothy Teuton “Dot,” passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at the remarkable age of 105. A woman of deep faith, strong character, and unwavering devotion to her family, Dot lived a long and meaningful life filled with love, service, and grace.
Dot was born in Thorsby, Alabama, to the late Clarence and Lila Bice. In 1925, she moved with her parents to Palatka and was raised in the small village of Pomona Park, south of Palatka. She graduated from Crescent City High School, where the foundations of her faith, patriotism, and love for community were firmly established.
During World War II, when women were called to serve their country, Dot proudly joined the Women’s Army Corps and served from 1943 to 1945. While stationed at Headquarters, 2nd Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, she met the love of her life, Ed Teuton. They married in 1945 and shared 69 devoted years together, building a life centered on faith, family, and commitment. Together they raised two sons, Bob and Don.
Following her military service, Dot and Ed attended and graduated from the University of Florida. Dot taught school in Florida for ten years before embracing her most cherished role as a homemaker. She poured her heart into caring for her family and was deeply involved in her children’s activities throughout their growing years.
In 1984, Dot and Ed moved from California to Volusia County, Florida, where they continued building a life rich with friendships, fellowship, and service. In her earlier years, Dot was active in Sunday School and Baptist Women’s work. Since 1996, she had been a faithful and devoted member of Daytona First Baptist Church, where her kindness, encouragement, and steadfast faith touched many lives.
Dot and Ed enjoyed traveling across the United States by car, creating treasured memories together along the way. She loved square dancing and ballroom dancing and found joy in table games, crossword puzzles, crafts, old movies, and Bible study. One of her favorite simple pleasures was sitting on a porch and watching hummingbirds, a peaceful reminder of the beauty she always found in God’s creation and the outdoors she loved. Dot remained interested in current events and politics and continued to engage thoughtfully with the world around her.
More than anything, Dot loved being surrounded by her family, friends, and church family. Her greatest love was for the Lord Jesus, whose presence guided her throughout her extraordinary life. Her warmth, wisdom, resilience, and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert (Sherri) Teuton and Donald (Susan) Teuton; her grandson, Jake Teuton; step-grandchildren, Doug Gill, Courtney (Shauna) Brink, Lauren (Michael) Dimmitt, and Sarah (Thomas) Van De Bogart; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Dot’s 105 years were a testament to a life faithfully lived — one marked by love, service, devotion, and enduring grace. Her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched and the family she cherished so deeply.
