Frances (Fransesca) Tripken, aged 95, of Glen Spey, New York, passed away on March 24, 2025. Born on October 29, 1929, in the Bronx, New York, she entered the world on a day marked by the infamous stock market crash, the daughter of Patrick and Jennie Neiss.
Frances found her soulmate, Philip, whom she affectionately referred to as the "Love of her life," and they exchanged vows on March 12, 1949. Their enduring love story spanned an impressive 76 years, during which they cherished countless winters spent at their beach house in Ormond Beach, creating lasting memories together.
Throughout her life, Frances balanced her professional career with the demands of raising her three children, Jo Ann, Douglas, and Philip. She began her working journey at Macy’s in Parkchester before moving on to the New York State Compensation Board and later the World Trade Center. Eventually, she relocated to Brooklyn, where she dedicated her efforts to working on disability cases, assisting AIDS clients, and supporting drug rehabilitation and Alcoholics Anonymous programs. In addition to her professional commitments, Frances was deeply involved in her community, particularly at St. Helena Catholic Church in Parkchester, where she participated in the Women’s Church Society, taught C.C.D., and contributed to various entertainment shows.
Frances took immense pride in her family and the many friendships she cultivated over the years, relishing the joyful gatherings for Sunday dinners and backyard parties that brought everyone together. Known for her generosity and kindness, she touched the lives of all who met her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Pasquale and Jennie Neiss, her sister Margaret Lavelle, and her brothers Patrick and Frank Neiss. Frances is survived by her beloved husband Philip, her children Jo Ann (Gormley), Douglas, and Philip, along with six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as a wide circle of family and friends.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Advent Emergency Room for their compassionate care during her final moments.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in New York. May she rest in peace. Amen.
