Helen C. Coleman

Born to Margaret and Robert Hopkins on March 28,1945. Robert a pipe fitter in the shipyards of Port Glasgow, Scotland, during World War II, left his home after the war, moving to the Chicago, Illinois, area to find work. Margaret and the four children followed by ship in 1952 to reunite with Bob.

Helen grew up in the Oak Lawn suburb of Chicago. There she graduated from Oak Lawn Community High School, then on to the Pickard and Hein Beauty school in downtown Chicago.

In the spring of 1963, she met and fell in love with a "very handsome" U.S. Navy sailor who was attending Electrician's mate school at the Great Lakes US Naval training center. After a long distance courtship they married on of all days, September 11, ........1965!

After Jim's Navy hitch, they moved back to Jim's home in Pompano Beach, Florida, where Jim worked at Florida Power and Light Company.

In the summer of 1981, Jim sought a Lineman's position in Ormond Beach, not long, after Helen and the three boys followed where they found their home.

Helen, worked as a hair stylist for many years with the unique ability to remember the name and details of almost every customer who sat in her chair!

An intelligent and when needed, a force of nature who taught the boys and I the real meaning of love!

The oxygen in the air that I breathe, the light that illuminates all that I see, my guide my love, my life.

When my dad died in 1998, I wondered, what do we look like in heaven? I still, wonder is she the pretty slender brunette that I fell in love with? She is loved! She is missed! She is our world, our everything! She is reunited with our Jimmy, her sisters, parents and all of those loved ones who have passed before us.

Helen is survived by her Husband Jim, 2 sons John and Greg, predeceased by her son Jimmy. Five grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, her brother Roy and many nieces and nephews

A visitation for Helen will be held Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, Florida. A visitation will occur Friday, January 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, Florida. A funeral service will occur Friday, January 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM, 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, Florida 32173.

Helen will be laid to rest in Volusia Memorial Park, Ormond Beach, Florida.
