Iona Simmons Dennis

Iona "Beryl" Dennis died suddenly December 13 at AdventHealth Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida. She was born on January 20,1939, Lumberport, West Virginia, to Harry J. and Saddis Simmons. She graduated from Buckhannon Upshur High School in 1957 and then Cosmetology School then become a beautician.

On March 12, 1959, she married Hoye D. Dennis in Odessa, Texas. They were married until his death November of 1988. In addition to her husband she was pre-deceased by sisters Cleo, Eva, Etta, Merlene, Francine, Wanda, Beverly and Betty. Also brothers Ronald, Donald, Eugene, Dorman and Benjamin.

She is survived by son Howard "Dewayne" Dennis, (Connie); grandchildren, Nate (Caitlin), Kaleb, Gabe (Ashley) and great-grandchildren, Oakley, Amelia, Elijah and Eloise all of Sarasota, Florida; sisters, Patricia Fisher of Scott Depot, West Virginia, Avis (Dixon) Allen of Ruther Glen, Virginia, and brother Dick Minor of Nova, Ohio, as well as many nieces and nephews including Karen (Archie) Beard of South Daytona, Florida.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 21 at Volusia Memorial, 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, Florida, officiated by Pastor Mike Petrick.
