

Jack Eddy Miller was born in Marion, OH to the late Willis C. and Martha Jene (Eddy) Miller on December 27, 1936. Jack and his family were lifetime members of the First Baptist Church of Canton, Ohio. Upon his graduation from Lincoln High School in 1954, Jack answered the call to serve his country in the United States Navy. He enlisted his services for three years reaching the rank of Torpedo Man’s Mate 2nd Class on the USS Essex during the Korean Conflict. When Jack returned from overseas he attended Kent State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Biology in 1963. He was a proud alumnus of the Theta Chi-Delta Tau Chapter. After graduation at Kent State Jack began teaching at the Perry Township Schools in Massillon, OH. After some time as a teacher he left the schools and began working for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company where he was the Section Manager in the Production of Conveyor Belts Division. Jack enjoyed many things in life, animals, football, golf reading, military and art history and his friends at the Elks to name a few, but he enjoyed his family most of all. He will be remembered by those he leaves behind for his honesty, sense of humor, work ethic and loyalty to family and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Willis C. Miller and Martha Jene (Eddy) Miller, sister Marilyn Mae (Miller) Metz, all of Canton, OH. He is survived by his sister, Norita Jene (Miller) Collins of Canton, OH; former wife, Dr. Kathleen E. (Tavenner) Miller; Daughter and Son-In-Law, Dr. Pablo and Kayleen Mary (Miller) Garcia; granddaughters, Kathryn Michele Garcia and Jacquelyn Renee Garcia of Ormond Beach, FL; his nieces, Joyce Ann Metz and Kelli J. (Collins) Kopp of Canton, OH; and great nieces and nephew.
A celebration of Jack’s life is scheduled for Saturday December 27, 2014 at The Ormond Beach Elks Lodge # 2193. A short ceremony will begin at 5:00pm with dinner and beverages served until 7:00pm
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations in Jack’s memory to The Elks Lodge #2193, or Kent State University.
