Mabel Lawhorn

Mabel M. Lawhorn, 80 , of Ormond Beach, FL passed away Thursday at FL Hospital Memorial Medical Center. Mabel was born March 21, 1933 in Clintwood, VA daughter of Thelma and Earl G. Mullins. A resident of this area for over 59 years, Mabel was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Ormond and the Eastern Star. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 40 years until her retirement in 1996.She worked for Doctor’s offices, hospitals, hospice care and private duty. She felt her role in the family was to take care of her husband, two children and grandson and second was her dedication to her patients. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Richard E. Lawhorn, Ormond Beach and Teresa Lawhorn-Gay, Milledgeville, GA.; brother; John Mullins ; sister’s, Mona Mullins and Joyce Lightstone; grandson, Harrison Gay; dear cousins, Ed and Maudie Sparks, Pat and Prisey Sparks, Fred Sparks, Billy and Donna (Sparks) Berronge; Richard Sterling Lawhorn, Jerry D. Lawhorn Jr. and Douglas Ray Lawhorn. Mabel was predeceased by her husband Haskil R. Lawhorn and brothers, Joseph Mullins and Paul Burns Mullins; sisters, Earlene Mullins Phillips, Mary Elizabeth Mullins Branham and Betty Ann Mullins Vaughn; brother and sister in law Jerry and Ruth Lawhorn and brother in law Eugene Smith. Friends may call Wednesday 12-2 PM at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 548 N. Nova Rd. Ormond Beach. Funeral Service will follow Wednesday at 2 PM.
