Mae Louise Bogle born in the Parish of Farm, Manchester, on June 16, 1935, in Kingston, Jamaica. The eighth of nine beloved children of Zellah and Alexander Burrell. She later moved to Constance Spring, the parish of St. Andrew,. There she attended high school, secured a job as a seamstress and later met and married her late husband, Desmond Bogle. Together, they had three daughters: Ann Marie, Paula, and Michelle. Mae formed the foundation of a family rooted in love, resilience, and faith.
In 1969, Mae moved to the United States, settling in Brooklyn, New York. She landed a job with the telephone company where her work ethic and grace left a lasting impression.
After many years of faithful service, she retired from AT&T pursued her dreams. She was foster mom to many children, and the greatest Grandma ever.
Mae was a woman of remarkable strength, vision, and heart. She poured herself into building a meaningful life, not just for herself, but for those she loved. She traveled the world with curiosity and joy, always eager to explore and learn. She was a gifted, a wonderful cook, a skilled seamstress, and someone with a keen eye for beauty. Her home was a reflection of her — filled with love, thoughtfulness, and elegance.
Her house was a safe haven where first birthdays were celebrated, holidays were cherished, and every visit felt like coming home. It was the place everyone wanted to be. The first stop after a long drive or flight, where you’d always be welcomed with open arms, a warm plate, and grannies company. Mae was deeply rooted in her community. Affectionately known as “Miss Mae” or “Miss B,” she was a familiar face and a steady presence. Neighbors admired her grace, wisdom, and kind heart. She loved sitting on her porch with a cup of tea or her favorite ice, enjoying the breeze, or simply watching her family grow. Mae had a passion for beautiful things. But she loved creating beautiful moments even more. She honored tradition, celebrated family, and brought intention and care to everything she did. She didn’t just live life — she made it feel special.
In February of 2024, Mae moved to Florida with her daughter Michelle. Here she enjoyed nature, fresh fruits, welcoming neighbors and the beauty of the land. She embraced the warmth and sunshine she so loved and longed for.
On May 9, 2025, Mae Louise Bogle was called home to her heavenly father. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, grace, and love that will continue to inspire everyone who knew her.
