Mr. Gatenby was born in Flint, Michigan to the late Victor and Miriam Gatenby. He moved to the Ormond Beach area in 1974 from Atlanta, Georgia following his retirement from Chevrolet after 39 years of service. He was a Production Superintendent for them. Mr. Gatenby proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II from 1943 to 1945 and was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was a former member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. His passion was flying. He also loved sign painting, playing the organ and was an avid woodworker.
Mr. Gatenby leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 69 years, Lois; two loving daughters, Kaye (Allen) Holt, Atlanta, GA and Jeannie (Tom) Silvey, Ormond Beach, FL; two grandsons, Marcus (Stacey) Holt, Commerce, GA and Michael Holt, Norcross, GA; two great grandchildren, Addison and Zane Holt.
