Martha Hien Tran, 80 passed away on February 27, 2018 in Ormond Beach and joined her husband, Sang in heaven. Her children, Lawrence, Paul (Elizabeth), John (MyLinh) and Martha (John) are confident that when she joined her husband in heaven, they did a few celebratory ballroom dances that included the swing, rumba, and cha-cha-cha.
Martha was born in Long Xuyên, South Vietnam on June 1, 1937. She, Sang and their 4 children escaped S. Vietnam in 1975. She was a secretary for the Americans and her manager offered her family the precious opportunity to evacuate within 24 hours and seek freedom in the U.S.A.
St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Ormond Beach, sponsored Martha’s family and their loving parishioners helped her family find a home, jobs and blessed them with kindness and support. Once she and her husband became naturalized citizens, they eagerly sponsored their brothers and sisters to America. She worked at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for almost 20 years. She and her husband were known for making the MOST AMAZING VIETNAMESE EGGROLLS! She LOVED to cook, dance, watch romantic movies and speak about her children.
Martha is survived by her three brothers, Hau (Hue), Dung, Thomas (Ly) Nguyen, her four children, five grandchildren, and numerous relatives. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 2nd at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N Nova Rd, Ormond Beach. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 3rd at 10:00 am at Basilica of St. Paul, 317 Mullally St, Daytona Beach.
