Nancy Hempel Lambie Snowden, age 78, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. She was surrounded by her loving family until the very end. Nancy was born in Charleston, West Virginia to Robert and Margaret Lambie on January 30, 1944. She moved to Florida as a child and attended South Broward High school in Hollywood, Florida, where she was a majorette, named Miss Twirlarama in 1960. She then went on to earn her degree in early childhood education, becoming a beloved teacher in Volusia County for over 30 years. She taught at Tomoka Elementary School for almost 30 years and transferred to Palm Terrace Elementary School prior to retirement, where she was known for her love and affection toward her students. It was not uncommon for her to buy a pair of shoes or provide students with lunch money when it was needed. She spent her summers taking all the Twin Rivers neighborhood kids on adventures, loading them up in her station wagon and taking them to the springs, the beach, or anywhere else they wanted to explore. "Ma" Snowden became the neighborhood mom, treating the neighborhood kids as her own, making a lasting impact that lingers still today. Nancy retired after her second grandchild was born and dedicated her life to her grandchildren, making sure there was not a football, basketball or soccer game that she would miss. She spent the last 20 years of her life as a die-hard Florida Gators fan and 'Worlds Best Grandma,' and will always be remembered as one who loved very deeply. Throughout her time in Twin Rivers, she was often visited by people she impacted, many of whom saying that if it was not for her, they would never have finished high school or accomplished what they had. Her impact lives on in many, near and far. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert J. Snowden Sr. and her brother Robert M. Lambie. She is survived by her three children Kimberly Snowden, Robert J. "Bo" Snowden Jr., and John Snowden; her daughter-in-law Samantha Snowden; her sister, Lynn Borden; and her five grandchildren Zachary, Sydney, Mason, Cole, and Jackson.
