Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing he is now at peace. Awaiting him in heaven is his beloved grandson, Matthew.
Born in the beautiful city of Naples, Italy, Onofrio brought with him the richness of his heritage, a tireless work ethic, and a heart full of kindness when he emigrated to America to build a better life. Through humility, perseverance, and unwavering devotion to those he loved, he created a life marked by dignity, compassion, and quiet strength.
Onofrio was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend — a man whose presence brought calm, whose hands created beauty, and whose love was the foundation of his family. He found joy in life’s simple blessings: peaceful walks by the ocean, quiet hours spent tending to his vegetable garden, and the satisfaction of crafting things with his hands through woodworking. These were not just hobbies, but expressions of his love, patience, and connection to the world around him.
Onofrio, known affectionately as Fred to many, also loved to travel the world with his beloved wife Maria. Cruises brought them joy and adventure, but it was their trips back to Italy—his homeland—that held a special place in his heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Maria, who remained by his side in steadfast love; his five sons, Nick (Tammy) Deriggi, John (Paige) Deriggi, Mario (Michelle) Deriggi, Anthony (Nancy) Deriggi, Salvatore (Kellee) Deriggi who carry his strength and values forward; ten grandchildren, Christopher
Angelia, Dylan, Andrew, Alexander, Ryan, Tyler, Max, Jason and Ella; each a living tribute to his legacy of love, warmth, and wisdom.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Onofrio’s life on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, Florida.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Brendan's Catholic Church, 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd, Ormond Beach, Florida. Following Mass, Onofrio will be laid to rest at Volusia Memorial Park.
Though he is no longer physically with us, Onofrio's gentle spirit, enduring love, and the beautiful life he lived will remain in our hearts forever.
