Beloved ambassador of joy, Patty Williams 60 of Holly Hill, Florida finished her beautiful journey on this earth and went to her heavenly home on November 24, 2024. She was born in Daytona Beach, Florida on July 22, 1964 at a time where unfortunately doctors saw Patty’s diagnosis of Down’s Syndrome as a reason to suggest “putting her away” since it would be best and easiest. The world can be thankful of Patty’s parents who answered those doctors with a resounding…”no thank you, just watch her” but not in such polite terms.
She attended Rainbow and Hillcrest schools where she developed her skills of clear speech and communication, making friends, learning to read, and furthered her basketball and track skills thru Special Olympics. Her hobbies included collecting/organizing sports information, writing, singing, dancing, and enjoying all sports especially Florida State Seminoles. Patty developed severe scoliosis and by age 12 had a Harrington rod procedure where a steel rod was fused to her spine. After surgery and the subsequent months of a full body cast and then brace, Patty always answered that she was “fine” even when her face would suggest otherwise or as she rode her bike over ramps like Evel Knievel. She may have been developmentally slower in some ways, but it didn’t stop her in leading the way for how to spread joy or making others to feel so genuinely loved. As an adult she worked at the ARC workshop and since speed was never really associated with her in any way, she continued to spread love and made friends and occasionally got her work done. In her older years, she was blessed to have lived in several wonderful group homes with her last one being the Powers House. She was a vital part of the Beville Road church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Spuz Williams (Spaziani) and father Jack Williams and recently her step mother Marianne Adams. She is survived by her brother Chris and wife Louisa of Tallahassee, FL,step brothers Kurt, Eric, and Jeffery along with several cousins and family she has assembled though not blood related.
A celebration of her life is scheduled for March 1, 2025 at 10:30am at the Beville Road church of Christ, 850 Beville Road, Daytona Beach, FL. A link for streaming access to her service will be provided below.
