Roger Samartino, age 85, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away on Sunday December 23, 2018. Roger was born February 20, 1933 in Bronx ,NY son of the late Laura and Martin Samartino. He joined the Haddonfield NJ Police department where he served for 27 years;5 years as Chief of Police until his retirement in 1987. He was a past president of the South Jersey Chiefs Association. A member of the Lions Club, Pinewood Antler/Hunting Club and a member of St Brendan's Catholic Church. Beside his parents he was predeceased by his sister Anne De Marco. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 66 years; Evelyn; children Roger, Steven(Denise), Linda (Mike) Privette, Gordon (Wendy), Bryan (Arlene), Deborah (Robin) Burr; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 am, Saturday, January 5, 2019 at St Brendan's Catholic Church 1000 Oceanshore Blvd. Ormond Beach.In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Rogers name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
