Roger Owen Strain, 66, of Daytona Beach passed away October 16, 2018. He was born in New York on January 9, 1952. Roger attended James Monroe High School before entering the workforce. Roger worked in the commercial fishing industry, hospitality industry and in later years was a yard foreman for a Long Island lumber company before retiring in 2015. After retiring, Roger moved to Daytona Beach, Florida to spend his later years closer to his brother, Ronald, in warmer climate. Roger had a passion for the saltwater air and enjoyed spending time at the beach. After battling many health issues, he passed peacefully and without pain. He was one of the “good guys”, was loved and will be greatly missed. Roger is survived by his son, Jeremy Strain and wife, Dawn; daughters, Andrea Maxwell and husband, Roger and Cynthia McClain and husband Rodney; grandchildren, Logan, Rachel, Cara, Cole, Nicholas, Alexandra and Clayton and great granddaughter, Melody. Roger also leaves behind his brother, Ronald Strain and wife Lorraine as well as many nieces and nephews. At the family’s request services will be private.
