Salvador Sakay Sanchez (Born Feb.18, 1921 to September 18, 2012) was a hard worker, a role model, and an honorable gentleman. He is best known as "Buddy" with his friends, and "Ka Bading" among his relatives. He was a charismatic leader and leading founder of Wyeth Laboratories in the Philippines.
Born and raised in the Phiilippines, Ka Bading was the second of 6 children and was the breadwinner for his family. He was 3 years old when World War I broke out (1914-1918) and was barely out of his teens when World War II (1839-1945) was declared.
Ka Bading was always a standout. During his early age, his teachers in school were impressed with the learning ability and was accelerated from 2nd to 4th Grade. He was also a frustrated piano student, because he can hear, remember and write the notes but could not play it on the piano as he could not afford it.
Ka Bading went on to be the Valedictorian for elementary and high school and pursued his studies a the University of the Philippines. He graduated as a Nurse and was able to work for the premier training center in the country, Philippine General Hospital.
Offered with a lucrative and promising career in the pharmaceutical industry, Ka Bading made the career move and helped establish Wyeth Laboratories as one of the top companies in the Philippines. He received numerous accolades for his demonstrated achievements as a supervisor, a trainor, and sales manager. I remember attending a couple of company parties where Buddy was praised and commended for his hard work. Other side remarks I heard then was that Ka Bading had a fling with one "Charito Solis", a popular movie and TV celebrity. Ka Bading was very successful with Wyeth that he was able to help provide for his brothers and sisters kids go through school.
But the biggest paycheck my dad received was not material but it was the chance to meet and charm a beautiful, and aspiring physician named Isabel A. Sanchez. They fell in love and got married in 1962. I was born a year after, Imma came in next and then Isa, even at a late age of 42, This family expanded with the birth of Sarah, Keisha, Amber, Kimberly and Cristopher.
Ka Bading was a very good provider and a devout catholic. A lot of people look up to him for his kindness and generosity. I remember as a kid when some of my friends would go behind my back and approach my dad to ask for money and without hesitation, my dad gave them money even if he didn't know them well enough. That is how my dad was. I will be lucky to be even half the man he is. We are truly blessed to know him and I am very proud of him.
We will really miss you dad. We love you very much!!!!!!
