Saddened to have to announce the passing of a beautiful, caring wife and mom, Carolyn Kinzie. Surrounded by the ones that loved her. Left to carry on with her spirit is her husband Gord of 35 years, daughter Jessica, son Ryan and his wife Sydney and Carley.
Carolyn was born in Scarborough on August 20th, 1963 to parents Tony (predeceased) and Ann. Many memories were created growing up in their home in Ajax with brothers Paul (Karen), Anthony (Sarah) and sisters Anita (Paul) and Jennifer (Brett). Carolyn also leaves behind Pete (Tracey and family), Dianne (Bryan and family) and sister-in-law Lorna, ever grateful for introducing Gord into her life! Carolyn also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, grand nieces and nephews who she adored! Carolyn is predeceased by her father Tony, daughter Lauren, mother and father-in-law Isabel and Gord, brother and sister-in-law Glenn and Dorothy and many more. Carolyn was also a best friend to Lisa (Arnts) Ford who for over 45 years shared good times, laughs, shopping and many more experiences. Carolyn was so grateful to have Lisa in her life and their bond will not be forgotten!
Carolyn starting work at Christopher Robin Home in Ajax then began nursing at Whitby Mental Health Centre. For over 35 years she worked alongside and mentored many co-workers. Forging friendships that would last for years. Oh so many co-workers to list but you all know your names.
After getting married and moving to Oshawa, Carolyn quickly became a good neighbor. Creating bonds with Ron and Margaret, Derek and Laurie, Ron, Carrie, Eddy and Marlene, Howie and Janet, Mark and Jennifer, Barb, Kim, Danny and Diane, Jack and Sue, Marion and many many more.
Carolyn was a jack of all trades. Whether it be cake decorating, baking, cooking, gardening, calligraphy, stain glass, the list goes on. Whatever she had a hand in you knew it was going to be done right!
After renting a cottage on Canning Lake off the Kaasalainens for many years the family was fortunate to buy a cottage of their own there. This quickly became Carolyn’s Happy Place! Spending time creating gardens, lounging on the dock, feeding the Jays, decorating the cottage, kayaking, going for walks and hosting friends and family there was what she loved! What Carolyn enjoyed also was the Loons. Listening to them call, watching them swim by the dock, seeing them while on the kayak or rushing out with her camera hoping for just the right angle to get the red of their eyes.
It was Carolyn’s family she was so proud of and cherished the most. Her unwavering love and guidance through every step of their lives and see them grow made her oh so proud.
The family would like to thank Dr. W. Nevill D.D.S. and his staff for their care through the years. Thanks you also to Dr. Copeland and staff and for being there when she needed help the most! And finally, the staff at DRCC including Dr’s. Kopolovic, Josef and Ho.
In lieu of flowers, Carolyn and her family would appreciate donations to the Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre.
