Carvel Lorne Richards

July 16 1929 – January 4 2025

Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa, Ontario on Saturday January 4th 2025 at the age of 95. Carvel was the beloved husband of late wife Helen, in which they shared 63 wonder years together.

Loving father of Linda, Debbie, Rick (Bev) and Rhonda (Tim – predeceased). Cherished Papa of Alan (Christine), Amy (Phil), Ryan, Timothy (Ashley), Spencer, Riley and Hunter. Great Papa of Kaylee (GP), Brianna, Anakin and Penny. Great great Papa to Sophia.

Carvel was predeceased by parents Cliff and Rebbeca and sister Barb.

Lovingly remembered by Oakley (Leona), Charlotte (Donald – predeceased) and Ruth (Jim – Predeceased).

Carvel will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Carvel was an avid supporter of the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs, a devoted fan who never missed a game whenever he could. His enthusiasm for sports extended beyond professional teams, as he was deeply involved in cheering on his grandchildren at all their sporting events. With a remarkable 43-year career at General Motors in Oshawa, Carvel's dedication to his work mirrored his passion for his family's activities and his beloved teams.

Visitation will be held at the Oshawa Funeral Home located at 847 King Street West, Oshawa on Thursday January 9th 2025 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A memorial service will be held at the Oshawa Funeral Home on Friday January 10th 2025 at 10:00am in the Chapel, followed by a reception in the Heritage room in the lower level. Burial will take place at Thornton Cemetery following the reception.

In lieu of flowers, the family are kindly asking for donations to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Cancer Society of Canada.
