Donald Taylor

Don passed away peacefully with his beloved wife Mary of 51 years by his side on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016. He was 77 years of age. He was the loving father of Scott (Karen Schmidt) and Liane Maki (Corey), cherished grandfather of Samantha and Carson Maki and the dear brother of Nancy Stibbard (Jim), Kenneth Taylor, Janice MacDonald (James) and Judy McPherson (Angus). He will be fondly remembered by his extended family and many friends. Don began his working career as a banker. Upon earning his CGA degree he worked for lumber companies in Malakwa, B.C. and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. In 1983, he was called to Toronto where he became the CFO of the Presbyterian Church in Canada where he faithfully served for 20 years until his retirement in 2003. He remained active after his retirement with his involvement in the Canadian Council of Churches, Ecuhome and Melville Presbyterian Church. A celebration of Don's life will be held on Tuesday, December 13th at Melville Presbyterian Church (70 Old Kingston Road, West Hill) beginning with visitation at the church at 10am with the service to follow at 11am. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Lakeridge Health Foundation - Cancer Centre would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street (905-721-1234).
