It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Karon Mary-Alice Shepperdson, who peacefully departed at Lakeridge Health at the age of 76. She was the cherished wife of the late Peter Shepperdson.
Karon is predeceased by her parents, Robert Ashmore and Madeline Williams. She leaves behind her beloved sons, Shawn and Bradley, as well as her loving siblings, Larry (Arlene) and Rose (John). She is also predeceased by siblings Douglas, Wilma, and Sharron-Rose. Karon was “Extra Mom” to Michael Martone (Ang) and John Salfi (Rebecca) both of Peterborough
Karon is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and many members of her hockey, GensNation and lacrosse families.
Generals hockey and Green Gales lacrosse were a central part of Karon's life; she was a devoted Oshawa Generals fan and season ticket holder since the 1960s and President of the Booster Club for 30 years. Karon was known for her tradition of baking a “birthday pie” for each Generals player on their birthday, a practice she maintained for decades. Karon organized many booster club buses for away games, becoming a familiar face and voice to fans across the Ontario Hockey League and the Canadian Hockey League with her infamous “Lets Go You Gennies” chant. Karon was inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Clarington Green Gaels Lacrosse team, recognizing her passion for sports and community.
Visitation for Karon will take place at Oshawa Funeral Home, located at 847 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario, on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
