Lorne Frederick Crowells

It is with great sadness the family announces the death of Lorne Frederick Crowells at Lakeridge Health – Oshawa on Sunday, February 21st, 2016 at the age of 80. Lorne passed away peacefully in his sleep. He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Jessie (Smith); his 2 daughters, Penny DeBow (Mike) and Wendy Cumming (Dave) and granddaughter Victoria DeBow (Craig). Brother-in-law of Gladys and Giles Connelly and Fred (late Joyce) Smith, late John and Jean Smith and late Joyce Whalley. A brother of the late Gordon, Jim, Bernice, Mary, Lillian, Lloyd and Bruce. Lorne was the last of his family. He will be dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He worked at General Motors for 45 years and was a member of Hampton United Church. Lorne will be forever remembered for his strong faith and his dedication to his family. He was very fond of his vegetable garden and had a passion for his cottage. The Crowells family wishes to extend their appreciation to the Critical Care Team and the nurses and PSWs on the 6th Floor of Lakeridge Health – Oshawa for the care and compassion shown to Lorne and his family during his stay. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Tuesday, February 23rd from 7 – 9 p.m. and Wednesday, February 24th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at HAMPTON UNITED CHURCH (5454 Old Scugog Road, Hampton) on Thursday, February 25th at 1:00 p.m. Interment Thornton Cemetery.
