I have many special memories of Aunt Margaret, some of which include:  riding in her car to Grandpa Corrigan's and being there with her on weekends throughout the year and in the summer; she and mom loading us kids into her car and taking us to the "Frankford" river to swim and get ice cream cones afterwards at the "Oasis"; going across the road to her house to make sea foam candy with her; taking mom and us kids shopping for back to school clothing and supplies; knitting us slippers which we loved to wear so we could slide around on the hardwood flooring; letting us and our friends play "McGrath's " store in her basement - even when she wasn't home;  going with her on fall colour drives; her friendship with mom, and how she was always there for her and our family; she and Aunt Nora in 1979 taking me on a wonderful trip to B.C and Alberta, with Aunt Nora's longtime friend from nursing school, Nell Doyle;  she, mom, and Uncle Hugh teaching me how to play "500" and thereafter enjoying many games at her kitchen table;  she and mom helping me set up the kitchens in our home and cottage;  enjoying her delicious cooking;  I will remember her doing whatever she could to help her father and siblings, especially when they needed her most; and most recently, while she was living at Hillsdale Estates, our visits and going to organized activities together.

I feel Aunt Margaret was a saint.  She was kind to everyone.  Mary Corrigan

I can just see her face; Aunt Margaret laughing and having fun playing cards at the kitchen table at Uncle Vince's; in more recent years, the way her face would light up with a smile when you arrived for a visit.

Although she had a quieter nature than the rest of her siblings, Aunt Margaret was always welcoming and friendly. In the fall of 2013, Joan and I went to visit Aunt Margaret at Golden Pond. We found her sitting in the area in front of the nurses' station with a number of other ladies enjoying their company.  We enjoyed playing cards with Aunt Margaret and Uncle Hugh several times over the years after we moved to Lindsay in 1995. Aunt Margaret welcomed both Grampa Corrigan and Uncle Hugh into her home. Aunt Margaret and Aunt Theresa were close friends and at one time Aunt Margaret lived with Aunt Theresa's family before she bought her own house just across the street.

When I think about Aunt Margaret I must say she loved knitting, crocheting, rug hooking, quilting, embroidery, and needlepoint and took great pride in her finished works.  One might say, a bit of a perfectionist in that sense.  It is easy to be this way when you truly enjoy what you are doing. Aunt Margaret was the one who encouraged and taught me to do this, I learned how to knit from her and if I had any problems or questions she was always there with an answer. She also encouraged my love of reading as she was going to the library weekday evenings for books for herself and later Grandpa she would always ask if I wanted to go too.

When I stayed at the farm, I always got to sleep in Aunt Margaret's room - the east facing bedroom. Since I wasn't old enough to have make-up, I was fascinated by the items on her dresser. She had a set of six tiny ‘lipsticks' that stacked together that I used to admire for the exotic colours. I know now they were eye shadows - blue, silver, etc. But the most fascinating thing was her choice of perfume – ‘My Sin'. How bold and rebellious that sounded! Whenever anyone mentions that classic perfume, I still think of Aunt Margaret.

Aunt Margaret:  We have shared a very special bond since the time you became my Godmother.  For this, I am forever blessed and grateful.  You were a wonderful, loving Godmother and Aunt.  I will miss you forever....Moe

Dear Power Family, 
Margaret was "Aunt Margaret" to all the kids in our Gibbons Street neighbourhood.  She was a lovely lady and will be missed.

Dear Powers' Family,
I wish to extend deepest sympathy to you all on the loss of your Aunt.  I know that she had a big impact on your daily lives as you grew up. She will be sadly missed.
