Maria Rinck Illig

After a brief illness Maria passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 1st, 2017 at the age of 90. Born on June 2nd, 1926 in Hambach, Germany to Otto and Emma Rinck, she was the oldest of five siblings. She immigrated to Canada June 1959 with her husband Friedrich (deceased), their two daughters and one son. Not without its challenges they embraced their new life. Worked hard, developed lifelong friendships, and became a part of a community that nurtured strong family ties. Sunday dinners were never missed. Maria enjoyed a keen sense of humor, and amused everyone with her chatty personality. She is survived by her daughters, Giselle (Steen) Thureson and Brigitte (Tom) Soltys. She was predeceased in June 2010 by her son, Werner H. Illig. She is survived by four grandchildren, Dave, Crystal, and Julie Thureson, and Christoper McLaughlin. She was also predeceased by one grandson, Jamie McLaughlin July 1st, 2016. Great grandmother of Elsie, Emily, and Keri Lynn and great great grandmother of Connor. Immediate family will hold a private service to celebrate Maria's life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lakeridge Health Foundation would be appreciated.
