Mary Kaestner

1919 - 2011

Mom passed away peacefully at home late on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Her happy nature and good humour remained intact even during her last days. She will be remembered always for her easy laughter, her unwavering support, and her insistence on always doing the right thing. She smiled easily and often, and we will miss that very much. Her last months were made comfortable and dignified with the help of her extensive support team. We would like to especially thank Dr. Dion, Dr. Ho, Sue Dalton, Ursula Odermatt, Angie Sekul, and all the other nurses, PSW workers, and Personal Assistants whose help made an amazing difference to her quality of life in her last months. Mary lost her husband, Horst, the love of her life, in 2007. She is now survived by her two children Donna Rooney (late Phillip) and Harry Kastner (Maureen Leonard). She has five grandchildren, Phillip (Angee), Steven, and Cherise Rooney, David and Andrea Kastner and three great grandchildren, Shelbi, Ashlyn, and Brynlee Rooney. She will also be missed by many relatives and friends. Her love was given freely and returned by all who were fortunate enough to know her as a friend. We will all miss her very much. Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West, Oshawa (905-721-1234), for visitation on Tuesday, February 1st, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m. Mary was fond of the Diabetes Association as her favourite Charity, and donations in memoriam would be welcome.
