He is survived by his daughters, Michelle (Brian), Nicole (Roberto), and Robyn, and his grandchildren, Keira, Tyson, Jordan, Laila, Breeanna, Alex, and Noah.
He will be fondly remembered by his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Derrick was a huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He had a strong passion for Classic Rock music, and a deep love for dogs.

A visitation will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home, located at 847 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario, L1J 2L4, Canada. The visitation is scheduled for January 2, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
The funeral service will follow at the same venue on January 2, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
