Michael Gordon Arnold

Passed away surrounded by his beloved wife, family and friends after a long and bravely fought battle on Friday, April 24th, 2015 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa in his 64th year. Beloved husband of Margaret for 20 years. Loving father of Mardy Peterson and Michael Peterson and stepfather of Derek McAleer (Carol). Cherished grandfather of Katelyn Kellar and Michael Kellar (Breanne) and great-grandfather of Emerson Michael Kellar. Dear son of Iris Elliott and the late Howard Cathey. Survived by his brothers Martin Cathey (Linda) and Mark Cathey (Wendy) and sister Deborah Cathey. Will be lovingly remembered by his extended family, friends and his two wonderful cats; George and Gracey. Michael had a larger than life personality and a zest for living. He lived life passionately, always with a smile and a great sense of humour, and his spirit never gave up. He was an avid barbequer and enthusiastic amateur chef famous for his Thanksgiving and Easter dinners. A special thank you to the staff at St. Elizabeth’s and Rivera for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Thursday, April 30th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Friday, May 1st at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to the Toronto Wildlife Centre would be appreciated.
