

With his family by his side, Sterling Norman Crocker of Innisfil, ON, sadly and suddenly passed away on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012 at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario. Dad was born in Heart’s Delight, Newfoundland on March 3rd, 1926. He proudly served overseas in the Canadian Army in the Second World War as a Rifleman H-22678, transport driver and riveter. Late in life, he retired after many years with J.M. Schneiders Inc. and in his younger days, worked in construction with EGM Cape Construction. Sterling will be forever missed by his daughter, Gail Dekker (Edward), his sons, Sterling Crocker Jr., and Alvin Crocker (Sharon). He was a loving grandfather to Bethany Shean, Brookes Shean, Alyssa Crocker and Braydon Crocker. Sterling is survived by his siblings, Phyllis Barrett (Roy), Shirley Leach and Chesley Crocker (Peggy). He is also survived and remembered by his former wife, Crystal McPhee; his sister-in-law, Ivy Crocker; his brothers-in-law, Max Wagner and Major Richard Shaffstall. Many, many nieces and nephews will miss their Uncle Sterling as well. Sterling was pre-deceased by his mother, Clarice Bishop and his father, Elias Crocker; and by his siblings, James Crocker, Honora Wagner and Lorna Shaffstall. Also predeceased by his dear niece, Beverley Crocker. Heart felt appreciation by the family to Dr. Krishnan, Dr. Turner, Angela RN (ER), Audrey RN (ICU) and other staff of Royal Victoria for their genuine care, concern and compassion shown to Sterling and his family during his passing. Sterling was a lifetime member of the Salvation Army, and a celebration of his life will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) in the Chapel on Saturday, February 11th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated by the Etobicoke Corps of the Salvation Army or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
