

Betty May Springer, 86, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2012. She was born on January 12, 1926 in Allen County, Indiana to the late John F. and Edna M. (Henry) Lehman. She worked at Heyerly’s Bakery, in her home in child care, as a volunteer at Lutheran Hospital in the gift shop, at as the writer of St. Mark’s News for the Ossian Journal. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Thiele Road. She enjoyed her dog, sewing with the Senior Club at church, and especially having garage sales. Surviving family include her children, Linda Gallmeyer of Fort Wayne, Thomas (Sue) Springer of Tampa, FL, Timothy (Pat) Springer, Terry (Donna) Springer, Carol (George) Wilenski, Duane (Karen) Springer all of Fort Wayne; brother, Donald Lehman of Florida, half-brother, Eugene Fahlsing of Fort Wayne; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Ernst Springer in 1992, and a grandson. A funeral service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 16933 Thiele Rd., Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-8 pm on Friday, June 1, 2012 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian. Burial will be at St. Mark Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurse & Hospice or Turnstone.
