James E. “Jim” Swaim, 94, formerly of Yoder, passed away, Sunday, July 15, 2012. He was born on February 27, 1916 in Yoder to the late Lumley and Grace (Ludwick) Swaim. He worked at Tokheim Tool & Die where he earned his Journeyman Card, of which he was very proud. He was a member of the Ossian United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge # , and Civil Conservation Corp. He enjoyed crafting jewelry, woodworking, creating folk artwork, fishing, and camping with his grandchildren. Surviving family include his daughter, Rita James of Laotto; grandchildren, Wade James, Kent and Kurt Swaim, Lara Amstutz; 7 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his wife, Lucile M. (Haiflich) Swaim; son, Rex E. Swaim; siblings Carl Swaim, Mary Smith, Velma Wolfe, and Alice Hobday. A graveside service will be 11:00 am on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Oaklawn Cemetery, 701 South Jefferson, Ossian. Memorials may be made to the Ossian United Methodist Church.
