Michael "Hip" D. Hippensteele, 76, of Ossian, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at his residence. He was born September 8, 1945 in Fort Wayne, son of the late David Carl and Helen (Sherrick) Hippensteele. He was a U. S. Navy Vietnam Veteran and worked as a Crane Operator for Slater Steel. Michael attended St. Mark's Lutheran Church and was a life member of VFW 1421, as well as enjoying operating his ham radio. Surviving Michael are his wife, Donna (Hilsmier) Hippensteele; sons, David (Kim) Hippensteele and Robert (Jo) Hippensteele; granddaughters, Kaylynn, Addison, and Abigail Hippensteele, Robin (Blake) Paulie, and Coralee Hire; great granddaughter, Miaha VanDalsen; and sister, Patricia Hippensteele. Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 12:00 PM at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 16933 Thiele Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819 with visitation two hours prior. Burial will be at St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Contributions in Michael's memory may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church Special Projects Fund or St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
