Richard Hulvey

Richard Hulvey, 91, of Ossian passed away on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Ossian Health Care. He was born on December 11, 1926, the son of the late Lester and Chloe (Meyers) Hulvey in Yoder, Indiana. He married Avis (Baumgartner) Hulvey on June 13, 1948 at Ossian Church of the Nazarene. Richard attended Ossian High School. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed farming with his father and later with his sons. He was an active member of the Ossian Church of the Nazarene and served many years as church treasurer, trustee, and Sunday school teacher. Surviving family include his wife of nearly 70 years, Avis; children, Marilyn (Jack) Gibbs of South Bend, Jerry Hulvey, Dave (Tami) Hulvey, and Janice (Jerry) Roop all of Ossian; grandchildren, Andy (Heather) Gibbs, Joel Gibbs, Kristi (Mike ) Bishop, Scott (Emily) Roop, Sharmin (Nick) Hutto, Kim Roop; 13 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter. Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Ossian Church of the Nazarene, 302 North Metts St., Ossian with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ossian. Memorials may be made to the church.
