Bernadine Delores Kummer, age 51, of Pasco Washington, passed away February 3, 2014 at her home. She was born in Moses Lake on May 1, 1962 to parents Ray and Vivian Gama. Bern grew up in Othello. She graduated from Othello High School and received an Associates of Arts and Science Degree from Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake. She married Tom Kummer August 9, 1980 in Othello Washington at the First Presbyterian Church. Bern moved to Pasco in the summer of 2009. Bern had a career as a book keeper, but her primary job was in the home. Bern was a kind and caring woman, who lit up a room when she walked in. She never said an “unkind” word. For fun she enjoyed going to the movies, but her passion in life was for her family and most of all her children. She was very involved in Jared and Kylie’s life. She volunteered for the Othello Cooperative Preschool board, chaperoned field trips, attended baseball games and dance recitals, took advantage of every opportunity to show her family she cared for them by being present in their life. Trips to Coeur d’ Alene Idaho’s Annual Holiday Light Show was a tradition not easily broken in her family. It was just one more way she could express her love for her family. She will be dearly missed. Bern is survived by her parents, her children; Jared Kummer, and Kylie Kummer of Othello Washington, and brothers; Dez (Rena) Gama of Pasco, and Jacob Gama of Palmdale California, and niece Tawni Gama of Pasco. Memorial donations in Bern’s name are suggested to the Hospice: The Chaplaincy in Richland Washington, the Crosswalk program at the First Presbyterian Church, or the Othello Co Op Preschool. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 7, 2014, at the First Presbyterian Church in Othello.
