Edith G. Pauley, 96, passed away at home October 5, 2011. Born and raised in Nebraska, Edith came to the Columbia Basin with her husband, Pete, in 1954 to settle on a hillside in Block 11. Yellowstone was a particular family favorite with many hikes into areas most tourists never see. It amused Edith when people commented they'd seen Yellowstone in a day because she knew it couldn't be done. Edith white water rafted down the Colorado River three times and convinced daughter, Marcia; son,'Kim; and grandson, led; to accompany her on one ofthe trips. Edith's travels were not limited to the U.S. She also toured Europe, China, Mexico, Canada, South America, Australia, and Antarctica.
Gardening was another activity which brought Edith much pleasure. Even after moving to Coventry House, she made her {fflrt~stand out with its multitude of plants. Painting also brought her joy. Edith took many classes with family and friends reaping the benefits of her talent. Knitting and crocheting also resulted in colorful afghans now decorating family homes. Active for decades in Eastern Start, Edith was Othello Worthy Matron, representing her chapter at both state and national gatherings.
Edith is survived by son Kim (Susan), daughters Marcia (Charlie), and LeAnn; grandchildren led (Alyssa), Amy Fleming, Chris Buck (Chris), and Sabrina (Ted) Taala; and great grandchildren Riqge and Sierra Pauley and Henry and Blake Taala.
