Sadly we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother Bella (nee Dumont) Blanchard at the age of 98.
Bella will be forever remembered in the hearts of her children, Denise Dufour (François), Pauline Blanchard and André Blanchard (Suzanne). She was the cherished grandmother to Liane Dufour (Luc), Marc-Antoine Dufour, Marc-André Blanchard (Aimie) and Thomas Blanchard and great-grandmother to Gabriel and Max.
Predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Georges Blanchard of Ottawa, her parents Ludovic and Clarida (nee Dallaire) Dumont of Sturgeon Falls; brothers Roland Dumont (Patricia) and Donat Dumont (Béatrice) of Sturgeon Falls; brother-in-laws Ernest Cummings (Georgette) of Ottawa and Raoul D'Aoust (Colette) of Gatineau, sister-in-law Marie Oman (Donald) of Toronto and son-in-law François Dufour (Denise) of Gatineau. She is survived by her sister Georgette Cummings of Ottawa.
Bella moved to Ottawa in 1942 and started her career at the young age of eighteen with the Department of National Revenue until 1952. She then worked as a bilingual executive assistant with the Department of National Defence Air Force and retired in 1980 from a fulfilling career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. She loved flowers of every kind and her passions were gardening, dancing, music, reading, knitting, cottage life and travelling to warm destinations. Bella enjoyed planning trips with her husband and escaped Ottawa winters with her daughter Pauline until the age of 89. All trips with our mother were a cherished life experience.
Bella was a giving person with a kind heart and gentle soul. She was greatly loved by her family and will be deeply missed.
A private service will be officiated by family acquaintance Paul-Jean Leclair at the Chapel of Funeral Home Racine, Robert & Gauthier, January 29th, 2023, Ottawa. For those wishing, donations may be made to The Amica Helping Hands Charity.
