We so often remember Brian...We miss him greatly, as  a fellow sailor and a true friend.

I met Brian in 2012 at a mutual friend’s 50th birthday celebration. We instantly connected and became friends. Although we didn’t see each other often, we made it a tradition to meet at least twice a year to celebrate our birthdays.

Brian introduced me to sailing, a passion I’ll always associate with him. In more recent years, even when he wasn’t able to get out on the water as much, we would often meet for breakfast at the BYC. He always had fascinating stories to share, a great sense of humour, and an ability to make me laugh no matter what was going on.

I will always remember him for his adventurous spirit, his travels, and his loyalty. He felt like a wise and kind grandfather to me—open-minded, generous, and full of life. Though I never met his family or was part of his close circle, I always felt a deep, familiar connection to him.

I’m heartbroken to hear of his passing. I had reached out to him today to send birthday wishes, not knowing he was already gone. I had often asked him to make sure his family knew how to contact me if anything ever happened, but perhaps he forgot, or no one knew how.

To Brian’s family and friends, please accept my sincerest condolences. He was a remarkable man, and he will be deeply missed. I will always hold a special place for him in my heart.

If it’s possible, I would truly appreciate the opportunity to visit his resting place and bring him flowers, as a way of saying goodbye.

Uncle Brian had a gift for connecting with people across all ages, from great great nieces and nephews to his same age peers. He was joyous.

A wonderful time at the Army Run, paying tribute to brother Kevin who served in the navy.

Brian loved his friends...and a good party! We shared a joint birthday party in 2023.

My most heartfelt condolences to Brian’s family. I always enjoyed spending time with him, he was a lovely man. I can only hope to be as active and smiley as he was when I move into my twilight years. What a great life he lived. My best to everyone at this difficult time, Nicola and the Pfeifers

We will miss these... with Larry McCaffrey.

We were saddened to hear of Brian’s passing. We will be thinking of and praying for Robert, John, Caroline and Brian’s family. Brian was a part of our family as well, we enjoyed many good times. Brian spoke elegantly and from the heart at my mom’s funeral many years ago. We will miss him.

The best Uncle. Fun and funny. Loving and so very much loved. Will always hold a huge place in our hearts.

Uncle Brian's obituary mentions:"He truly believed he led a charmed life." And he was right. 
But what sort of luck was it?
Not 'Dumb Luck'. Not 'The Luck of the Draw.' Not even the fabled 'Luck of the Irish.'
All through a long life our uncle produced his own special brand of good fortune. He did it through his kindness, his generosity and his infectious enthusiasm for all that life has to offer.
A lucky man indeed-self made!
And we have all been pretty fortunate too. Uncle Brian generously shared  the good he created with his family, his friends and all those he met during his long(but never long enough) time with us.

Brian enjoying one of his favourite activities....

Brian was an accomplished sailor and took me on as novice racing crew in 1998. We enjoyed so many sails together out of Britannia Yacht Club...sails that cemented a decades long friendship. I lived in Brockville years later when  Brian and Father Larry joined me to enjoy the Tall Ships Festival there. The HMCS ORIOLE was moored at the waterfront and I learned that Brian had sailed on her. It meant a lot to him to see her. so I attach her photo in his honor. Wishing you fair winds my dear old friend.

A wonderful man! Full of love, spirit and joy. He will be greatly missed by all of us.

For our  Irish Society “Brian McSheffrey Murder Mystery” production, Brian played my “husband”!  What fun we had !  We so enjoyed Brian’s stories and wit on the many Irish Seniors Social trips to various events! 🙏🏻

This is the complete wilderness canoe group, various, over the years, all at the table. Brian excepted, but included, always, as an elder, and to maintain a strong Irish representation.

In Memory of Brian, 

Brian is remembered as an affable social guy, outgoing, easy to talk to, and of course, impeccably Irish. This is true, and then some.

In earlier times, recalling Deerhurst Court, when Brian, and the other Irishman on the street, Chris Cummins, were instrumental in organizing an annual cul de sac street party, where 37 families socialized well into the evening, with a big bonfire in the street, and the full approval of City of Gloucester Fire & Police. 

Later on, when an annual wilderness canoe trip collective formed, with friends and co-workers, Brian was not on board, as this was no way to move on water. Brian’s boat must have sails, so we paddled on, but invited Brian to the afterparty. In later years, when the paddles went silent, and the portage was no more, Brian joined in at the annual canoe camp and cottage week at McGregor Lake, where only the best reminiscences of the wilderness treks were recreated and remembered.

Many such circles of friendship occurred over the years, with pub and Legion lunches, Britannia sail club adventures and gatherings, and just go talk politics and life over a burger and beer.

JY - longtime neighbour, friend, and member of the Circle of Conservative Curmudgeons, who have now lost a senior partner.

Our sincere condolences to Brian s family.  He has been a part of our family since his teen years in Ormstown and friendship with Pat Lawrence   and Jim McCaffrey. 
 Until recently, we could count on a last minute visit when he decided that a road trip was in order.  BBQ chicken dinners, a Valley visit, a coffee/libation stop.  We will miss the calls, the St Patrick Day cards, the sports news.
