Chris brought her sunny brand of enthusiasm and laughter to family, friends and strangers alike. She delighted in the company of her numerous cousins and their children, and her generosity was legendary. After an accident that left her unable to walk, she was determined to continue enlivening her surroundings and while in rehabilitation at St. Vincent de Paul, the very kind and equally determined staff helped her acquire her most prized possession, a motorized wheelchair. This brought her independence and the ability to engage socially and volunteer in resident action committees. Chris continued to pursue these activities at St. Patrick’s Home in Ottawa where she lived and thrived from 2022 to the present. She was an active volunteer in the St. Patrick's community, which included greeting new residents, participating on the Resident's Council, the Person-Directed Care Advisory Committee, hiring panels that interviewed new staff, and in end-of-life companion activities. She was also active in the spiritual life of the community, which included helping to set up for daily Mass. She loved her life at St. Patrick’s Home, and the contribution she could make there.
Heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and personal support workers in Care and Services, to the staff in Spiritual and Religious Care, Resident and Family Services, other support and administrative staff, and those residents of St. Patrick’s Home who, like her family, miss her wonderful heart, generous spirit, teasing, and big smile.
Friends are invited to a visitation on January 31st from 4:00 to 9:00pm at Racine, Robert & Gauthier, 180 Montreal Road, K1L 1B4, and to a celebration of Chris’s life on February 1st at 10:30, followed by a reception, at St. Patrick’s Home, 2865 Riverside Drive, Ottawa, K1V 895. Interment will take place in Montebello, Québec at a later date.
