Born, December 17, 1941, Clifford battled polio in his youth amongst many other hardships. He grew into a strong, capable, loving person with an admirable work ethic, love for golf and travel, and penchant for being everyone’s go to guy whenever they needed a hand. He retired from Otis in 1998 where he repaired elevators across the Ottawa Valley. After that, Cliff could not sit still, he worked at the Meadows Golf Course landscaping in the early mornings, then moved on to help his good friends Conrad and Danielle put up blinds at local office buildings and apartments. Finally, when he decided he needed to slow down, he spent his days climbing up on to his neighbours’ roofs to paint or empty gutters, plowing or shovelling their driveways and doing many odd jobs for them. When asked why he didn’t downsize and move some place easier, he’d say “Why? I like it here, there’s lots for me to do.”
Cliff was a strong and vibrant soul. He loved with all his heart and was one of the kindest men many of us have ever met. Many would say he was simple and liked simple things (except this could not be said about the cars he liked to own). He liked to spend time at home, in his big chair and watch a movie together and hated to miss golf on Tuesdays. He wished he could travel more and we wish the same for him.
He will be missed dearly.
The family welcomes any messages of condolences fellow mourners wish to share. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Cliff’s honour to the Ottawa Mission.
