Colleen you truly were a great friend. Although I am sad we will not make anymore memories I will cherish and look back on the ones we did make. We would sit and have lunch together everyday at work, and most of the time you would bring in treats such as your lovely carrot cake!!  I will always remember our Tuesdays when I would drop you off at home and we would have a cup of coffee every week..apart from the one week where I requested tea and you said “you’re pregnant aren’t you?!” Haha! You knew me too well! I’m so glad you got to meet Darcie, she still has the bumble bee light you got her & I’m sure my new little one will get enjoyment out of it too when she is born. You are one of the most honest, caring and genuine people I have ever met; I can close my eyes and smile when I think of you and all of the funny things we got up to. I hope you are at peace wherever you are, and are able to look down on us all and see how much you were loved. Goodnight my dear friend. Xxx

Colleen, my friend, my second Mum! Where do I start....such a kind, generous and beautiful person. I remember the very first day we met in the cooking room at Oakwood, we hit it off  straight away and you soon became that someone to turn to! You were always  there with a listening ear and I could always talk to you about things I couldn't with anyone else, whether it be in the car on the way home, with a cuppa and cake in your beautiful home, a cocktail at TGI's, over ribs and chicken at The Griff, afternoon teas in London, nights out....you were always there! I blame you for my obsession with candles, cinnamon and maple syrup but of course these things will always remind me of you and bring back all of the fond memories I have of you! I promise to visit Canada some day soon, I'm just sad that you won't be there to show me round as we planned but I know you will be with me every step of the way! I will never forget you Colleen, you were such a special person and I will love and miss you always. You fly high with the angels girl. Your crazy cat lady xxx

Oak Wood Primary School in Nuneaton back in 2007 was the first place that I met Colleen. 
My first thought was what amazing curls this lady has!! Through working alongside Colleen, I soon got to see the genuine, passionate, fun and beauty that she truly was. 
Memories of nights out, sleep overs and our trips to Weymouth and Liverpool I’ll remember fondly! Windy beach walks, bed hair, giggles galore and cocktails, cocktails, cocktails! Colleen showed me how to make the best daiquiri in town! So when the sun shines down and I make your drink, I’ll always remember you, you curly beauty.

I met Colleen when I started at Oak Wood School in 2009.  She was so friendly and kind and welcomed me to the Oak Wood family.  Colleen was also a part of my son William’s life who was a pupil at school.  She tried her hardest to get him baking at Saturday club!  He always came out with a cake and she would laugh and say “he didn’t really want to do it!”  She would be proud now though as he asks to bake at home.  So much to be grateful for and she made such a difference to his life giving up her Saturday’s to be there for the children. We had a song at school we used to sing in the hall together and I see her now singing away, “we all pull together to help each other out and we all pull together, if you need help just give a shout!” Thank you so much 🙏 You were one in a million and will be sadly missed, you lovely lady ❤️ 

I initially met Colleen, the girl with the bright blue eyes & big smile,  in my late teens.  However, over a span of 30+years, I got to know her -  mostly virtually -  thru my best-friend Cora. 

In the last few years, it was lovely to cross paths with her in Ottawa -  usually when Cora would host us or we'd all meet for a drink.  I always enjoyed our chats and hearing her talk about her kids.  And being the sweet person she was, she always found a moment to ask me about my kids too. 

To her children and family, please accept my deepest condolences.  May the sharing of memories with family and friends bring you some comfort and help to ease your pain. 











I first met Colleen back in 2012, I had just started working at Oak Wood in Cedar class where we worked together. Colleen had the ability to make you feel welcome and at ease.  She had such a warm and friendly vibe about her and I loved to hear about her stories from her travelling days, especially the ones in New York! If there's one thing I always remember about Colleen it was how much she loved her kids and what an amazing mama she was. I cannot believe I will never get to see your amazing curls again. Rest easy now beautiful lady ❤️

‘I love you’ ‘no, trust me, I love you more’.  I will miss this constant argument we always had.  You taught me so much in life with your huge heart and made me laugh out loud until the very end. 

Momma, you mean the world to me and always will.  I promise to make you proud everyday and keep Cal in check. 

I was so fortunate to spend a whole 7 years with you, making some of the most amazing memories that I will never forget.

Colleen was a dear friend of mine spanning back to the late seventies when we met working as a cashier at an Ottawa Restaurant called Mics.  We instantly formed a bond, spending many sleepovers at her parents house in The Glebe.  Many fun memories of nights at the Pub with Colleen.  She was a sweetheart!  RIP Colleen,  Love Cathy xoxo

I still can’t believe she is gone. 
What can I say?  So many memories.
Colleen and I go way back to 1979 when we worked at McDonalds.  So many good times we had. Weekends at the Lawn‘s cottage, my cottage, dancing the night away at many bars and our 2-month trek to Europe.  The memories from that trip are so many – the Monte Carlo “Big Win”; sitting on the Spanish steps, party nights in Corfu; climbing in windows after missing curfew at the hostels; Oompa bands in Winterthur; hiking in Interlaken; TGV ride to Paris; PARIS!!!, London and more.  After college she moved to NYC and the adventures continued such good times we had when I visited.  It seemed no matter where Colleen went our friendship remained.  Colleen was such a kind soul, always had time to chat and forever understanding.  Life sometimes got in the way and we didn’t see as much of each other but as soon as we did sit down it was liked time had stood still and we picked up where we left off.
I will always treasure those memories and miss her like crazy.

To the most wonderful mother, words aren't enough to say how proud I am to be your sunshine boy.  You were the most amazing mum, truly a heart of gold and the kindest soul.  It's such a surreal feeling knowing that you're gone now and we feel broken.  But you are resting peacefully now and no longer suffering.  We all raised a shot for you in true Callie style.

Colleen was a person who loved the life she lived.  I remember the first time we met back in 1984.  She was this beautiful, tall, long legged girl with a mass of curly hair and stunning blue eyes with a big smile.  We became fast friends.  We had some fun adventures during those college years.  We were young and carefree with the world at our finger tips and Colleen was always leading the way wanting to seek out the next adventure.  I spent many nights "stopping" over for the night on Marble Cres.  Mike and Teresa were gracious folks who welcomed me into their home as family.  One night usually turned into the entire weekend with lots of fun and laughter.  I cherish those memories.
1989 rolled around and both Colleen and I planned our weddings at the same time.  We both got married 2 weeks apart and planned it that way so we could be in each other's weddings.  Then Colleen was off to England to start a new adventure.  She and John started a family when Amy was born in 1992 and continued having babies every 2 years with the births of Ben, Callam and Declan.   Colleen was extremely proud of her children.  Even though we had a pond between us we still maintained a strong friendship.   There were trips back and forth over the years...Colleen returning home with the kids to spend time with family and me going to England for visits.  
Teresa would often ask if I thought Colleen would return to Canada to live.  I didn't really know, but I hoped one day she would, as I could tell it was something Teresa wanted but wouldn't ask her to do.  It would have to be her decision.  Well that day came and Colleen was back living in Ottawa.  Teresa's wish came true.  Colleen was such a kind and compassionate person, not only to her Mom but to those who needed any kind of help.  She was always there with a helping hand and a kind smile.
There will always be a special place in my heart for Colleen. Rest easy, my dear friend.







Colleen was a friend for many years, she was a sophisticated dresser with a beaming smile and a beaming heart who also had the skill to make amazing carrot cake. I was fortunate to be invited into her family home to share her cocktails in the summer with her wonderful children Ben,Amy,Callum and Declan and on winter nights she would make hot chocolate with cream and the children would always make you feel welcome and come and join us for a chat. We've spent many nights in her home talking about how proud she was of all her children and how she loved them so much, I will cherish those moments in my heart forever. Oh Colleen.. you were such an incredible auntie. I have so many special memories with you. One of my fond memories of you is when you came to visit me in Ireland, with Amy. We went to a bar and you were reading the men’s lips and letting us know what they were saying about us haha 
You always treated Mitsy and I more like a daughter and we were so blessed to have such a special bond with you. I will never forget all the thoughtful things you have done for us over the years. I will forever miss stopping in for a cup of tea or fancy cocktails. Say hi to my mom, nanny and papa for us, until we meet again! Love and miss you dearly ♥️♥️♥️

I first met Colleen 20 years ago at Heather's hen party.  The first thing I noticed was her beautiful blue sparkly eyes, huge smile and that massive striking mass of unruly, curly hair.  I made a lifelong friend that day and that friendship grew over the last 20 years.  
I feel truly blessed to call her my friend and the founding member of our beloved cheeky girls.  In fact Callie thought of the name!
Our 8 cheeky girls have shared a lifetime of amazing memories and have laughed, cried and hugged our way through the last 20 years..  Most of the cheeky girls have known Callie for a lot longer.
We have shared so many amazing weekends and whenever we got together Callie was at the centre of everything.  She even travelled back to the UK  from Canada to join us on our trip to Ireland in 2019!  What a weekend that was x
I  know the highlight was the cheeky girls trip to Callie’s  beloved Canada.  I wasn’t there but felt I was through all the amazing photos and video chats.
Callie had a enormous zest for life,  her children were at the centre of her life and she was the most amazing momma to Amy, Ben, Callum and Declan.  
Wherever there was fun to be had, Callie was in the thick of it!  The first to hit the dance floor and the last to leave.. Our very own party girl and the life and soul xxx

I got to know her well over the years, working at Oak Wood and became friends beyond work, sharing good times with Kath and Sadie and being totally unapologetic for finding the laughter we shared throughout the good and the difficult times in a way that good friends do. What a gal , I had the pleasure of meeting Colleen about 26 years ago.  We met through a friend (Heather) and the bond was formed straight away.  We had many a drunken night out at the weekend and Colleen became part of our friendship group.  She  would always be the first one on the dance floor for a boogie.  When our children were young I would always be at Colleen's house our children played together and we would sample her latest baking creation. She loved hearts and home decor and we often spent a Saturday going shopping looking for bits for our homes.  When our children were older, we both started to work at Oak Wood school together.  We soon both became part of the Oak Wood family and Colleen worked there for 10 years, building other special friendships along the way.  We have so many memories together and so many places we have visited together with the Cheeky girls and the Oak Wood family over the years and I will treasure every single one.  She certainly has left a huge whole in everyone’s heart.  Amie, Ben, Callum and Declan, she loved you endlessly and my thoughts are with you and your family. We became friends almost 29 years ago.  She was a breath of fresh air, full of life, laughter and fun.  We shared many ups and downs together; her family became my family and mine hers. When I moved away from Nuneaton, our friendship never faded; it grew stronger and stronger, and the cheeky girls were formed.  We have had so many adventures together we could literally write so many books.  Our No. 1 cheeky girl will be greatly missed but she will always be with us and always have a very special place in my heart.  Amy,Ben ,Callum and Declan your momma was so proud of you all and loved you to eternity and beyond.  Always here for you all. Colleen and I knew each other since high school.  We were young and, believe me, we had a lot of memories.  We had so much fun.  Colleen was like a sister to me; our lives went  on and we didn't see each other as much but we were always connected and truly loved each other.  Colleen was such a good friend.  She always told you what she thought but at the same time loved you regardless.  I will miss you, my dear friend, but know we will meet again!!  My sweet soul

It is with great sadness that I write this tribute in loving memory of Colleen. As a childhood friend of her daughter, Amy, I have had the honour of knowing Colleen and her beautiful family for many years.  

The entire Nicholas family have a way of instantly making you feel at home. You can’t help but naturally feel at ease when you’re with them. As a teenager, Colleen and John were wonderful hosts to countless sleepovers and college nights out. I felt a sense of belonging, freedom and fun with them that I didn’t find anywhere else. When I think of Colleen, I think of her fantastic taste in homeware, her generosity of spirit and her love for her family and friends. 

I have a specific memory that I wanted to share. I visited Ottawa in the summer of 2018 and the first thing that springs to mind is the joy I experienced when I arrived at the airport. Seeing Amy and Colleen waiting for me, holding a lovely hand-made banner to welcome me nearly brought me to tears. Like mother like daughter, their kindness and warmth has touched so many of our lives forever. 


An amazing lady who I had the pleasure of working with. Always positive and wearing a smile. Your baking talents were second to none - I always looked forward to your treats!
You will be missed xxx

Her children were her pride and joy!  Such great memories of when we were young cousins growing up, coming from the country to the city for a visit was always a fun experience and going to the cottage with the Lawns was a huge adventure!  She had a twinkle in her eyes that drew you in and we found nothing but laughter every time we got together!  Kind, generous, humorous and a mind of her own.
