Denise Blondeau Bélanger

Passed away peacefully after a long illness at the Central West Hospice, on November 23, 2014, at the age of 77. Dear daughter of the late Joseph Blondeau and the late Alexina Dumouchel. Beloved wife of Florian Bélanger, married 56 years ago in Marville, France. Devoted mother of Christiane (Roy) Grogan and Andrée (David) Hopp. Cherished step-grandmother of Steven Hopp. Dear sister of Carmen (the late Jacques) Ayotte, Paul Blondeau (Franz), and Irène Blondeau. She also leaves a brother-in-law Rodney Burgess, many nephews, nieces and friends. Predeceased by her siblings: Lionel (Thérèse), Armand (Jeanne d’Arc), Thérèse (Claude) Blain, Pauline Broad (Gil Weston) and Raymonde Burgess. As the devoted wife and mother of her military family Denise was the tireless organizer of frequent moves between Canada and Europe. She was very active and enjoyed sewing, gardening, curling and golf. She was also a dedicated volunteer at the Montfort Hospital for more than ten years. Denise was so loved and will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service to honour Denise will be held on November 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Racine, Robert & Gauthier (180 Montreal Road, Ottawa). Family will receive condolences starting at 1:30 p.m., and a reception will follow the service. The family is grateful for the kindness and compassion Denise received at the Central West Hospice during the last three months of her life, and a special mention to Dr. Andrew Douglas.
