Donald Francis Muir

(City of Ottawa Firefighter for 37 years - retired)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Francis Muir on January 17th, 2025. A devoted husband and father. Don was in his 90th year of life, a goal he wanted to achieve. Predeceased by his love, Mary (Tompkins), whom he was married to for 56 years; and can now join on the heavenly dance floor. Predeceased by his brothers Jack Muir and Jimmy Muir, and his sister Barbara O’Connor. Don is survived by his three daughters, Patti (Phillip Pfeiffer), Susan (Tony Hannas) and Catherine (Kelly Woods). His grandchildren Nicos and Graedon Pfeiffer, Georgi and Piper Hannas and great-grandson Lachlan Pfeiffer.

Don had a full life with his wife Mary, wintering in Florida, enjoying Saturday date nights at Vittoria Trattoria in Ottawa, and spending time with his beautiful granddaughters.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Foxview Retirement Community for the abundance of love and care shown to Don during his stay. Their compassion and dedication provided great comfort to Don in his final years. A very special thank you to all the caregivers, especially Dr. David Malek and Dr. Michael Malek, for our parents’ care throughout their lives; Dr. Grimes for his Parkinson's care; and, Dr. Galbraith for Don’s care at Foxview Retirement Community.

Donald will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

May he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved Mary. Per Don’s request there will be no services.
