Donald Joseph White

1951 – 2025

Donald White of Ottawa, Ontario, formerly of Douglastown, Quebec, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the age of 74.

Don was the beloved husband of Clare Gaigneur of Ottawa and the cherished son of the late Anna White (née McRae) and the late Walter White of Douglastown, Quebec. He is predeceased by siblings Harold, Idella, Luella, Regina, John, Gerald, Sheila, Patsy, and Leona, and lovingly remembered by sisters Shirley and Lois.

A devoted godfather, Don held special places in his heart for his godchildren: Ross, Cynthia, and Lloyd. He was also predeceased by his faithful four-legged companions, Troubles and Buggie, with whom he is now reunited.

A creative and passionate soul, Don was a talented photographer with a sharp eye for beauty and detail. He was also a world traveler who loved exploring new places and cultures — always with a camera in hand and a story to share. His sense of humour was quick, dry, and unforgettable — he could light up a room with a single comment and leave everyone laughing.

Driven and entrepreneurial, Don ran his own photography business for many years with his wife Clare, combining his keen business sense with an artistic flair. He approached everything he did with determination, precision, and heart.

Don will be remembered for his warmth, quiet wit, and enduring love for his family, friends, and animals.

Visitation will be held at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home & Chapel, 1411 Hunt Club Rd., Ottawa, ON, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

A Memorial Mass will follow from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM in the chapel at the funeral home.
