With her family beside her, Dorothy died peacefully on January 22 at the age of 92. Born in England in 1925, Dorothy served as a WREN in World War II and emigrated to Toronto in 1952. She was the beloved wife of Alastair Lamont for 44 years and the cherished mother of Fiona (Richard Sarabura), Katrina (Dave Stanley) and Peter (Karen Heighton). Dorothy was the much-loved Nana to Alex (Liz), Matthew (Melanie), Kailen (Enrique), Daina (Geoff), Mike (Jenn), Mitchell (Stephanie) and Rachel, as well as the GrandNan of Thomas, James and Emily Sarabura and Nina Valenzuela. Dorothy is survived by her brothers Ben and Bert in Bury St. Edmonds, England as well as many nieces and nephews. Dorothy loved spending time with family and friends and was famous for her wonderful knitting. She will be greatly missed by family and friends in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. A visitation will be held at McEvoy-Shields, 1411 Hunt Club Rd (at Albion Road), Ottawa, after 2:00 pm Saturday, January 27, 2018 until the memorial service at 3:00 pm. in the chapel.
