Dwight Bernard Francis McLaughlin

Peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the age of 80 years. Beloved husband of Colleen O’Connor for 59 years. Proud father of Dean (Manon), Troy (Anjlie), Chris (Heather) and Greg (Kathleen). Loving Poppa to Adam, Melanie, Paige, Sean, Ambrose, Cara, Matthew, Kennedy and Freddie. Survived by his cherished sister, Florence Sullivan, and his sisters-in-law Yvette McLaughlin, Lyla Carroll (Frank), Darlene O’Connor (Larry) and Brenda-Lee Kelly (Barry), and brother-in-law Ira McLaughlin. Predeceased by his parents Fred and Lima (Kealey) and siblings Earl, Muriel (Austin Henry), Helena (Arden O’Connor), Brian (Audrey Bedard), Howard, and brother-in-law Francis Sullivan and sister in-law Lorraine McLaughlin. Fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the community of Venosta, Quebec.

Dwight was most proud of his family and the loving relationship with his precious grandchildren. His legacy of storytelling will forever be etched in our hearts.

Heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary staff on the ICU floor of the Hull Hospital for the care and support they have provided.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home & Chapel on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Venosta, Quebec. Please join us for a reception following the mass. A private interment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Venosta Recreation Association or Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
